Karthik Ponnusamy, M.D., M.S.E. is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is fellowship trained in hip and knee replacements. He specializes in arthroscopy, hip and knee conditions, total and partial knee replacements, total hip replacements (including the direct anterior approach,) robotic knee replacement/arthroplasty and general orthopaedics. He treats patients in the Canton and Woodstock offices.
Dr. Ponnusamy received his Medical Degree from Stanford University following a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree both in Biomedical Engineering with honors from Johns Hopkins University. He then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery also from Johns Hopkins University. After residency, he completed a Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario. During his fellowship, he received additional training and earned a Master of Science in Surgery.
Dr. Ponnusamy has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2024, an honor of excellence given by peers after thorough vetting to recognize leaders in the field of medicine. He has contributed significant research to the medical community including presentations and publications on stem cells, tissue engineering, robotic surgery, and perioperative patient management. He also has numerous awards and honors including the Ronald Byank Chief Resident Servant Leadership Award, Chief Resident Research Award, and Rhodes Scholar Finalist.
Dr. Ponnusamy lives in Woodstock with his wife and sons. He enjoys hiking, traveling, and photography.
